Another classic car has found a new home, and a very lucky bidder has won an incredible machine. This beast of a ride, appropriately known as the “Black Widow,” was featured on BuyTheCar.com and crossed the virtual auction block at a staggering $75,586 sale!
There’s no doubt that the 1955 Chevy is one of the most iconic hot rod silhouettes of all time. In fact, this model is the subject of two very famous car movies, Two Lane Blacktop and, of course, the menacing Bob Alfa played by Harrison Ford in American Graffiti. (Nerdy car nut note: the same car was featured in both films). And in both movies, the ride did the same thing: kick ass and terrorize the streets. And that’s exactly what this ‘55 Chevy is built to do.

While ‘55 Chevys have been and always will be in demand, this build takes it to a whole other level and captured strong engagement straight out of the gate for very good reasons.

- Timeless Styling: With clean lines, a distinct front end, and an undeniably sexy mid-century stance, this coupe is the perfect balance between a classic ride and a raw-ass kicking hot rod. The team at Pro-Street Custom in Orlando, Florida shaved all unnecessary trim, smoothed the body lines, tubbed the rear wheels, and set her on American Racing 15” “Daisy” wheels and wrapped with beefy tires to give it the perfect stance. They mounted a plain mean looking custom hood to make sure that big block breathes freely. And living up to its name, she’s been sprayed in a gorgeous black to bring this lurking spider to life.

- Undeniable Performance: A big block 496 V8 lurks in the engine, waiting to pounce on all unsuspecting victims. A Holly fuel system feeds the beast, while a Magnaflow exhaust system lets her breathe freely. An aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keeps her cool in all driving conditions. But the fun part is releasing all the monstrous torque through a Richmod six-speed manual transmission while a narrowed 9-inch rear keeps those fat tires planted to the pavement!

- Venomous Interior: The signifying trait that lets you know you’re not dealing with any spider, but with a black widow, is the venomous little red dot. And this Chevy’s red dot is a luxurious, custom interior. Black and red are the theme inside, with leather seats each tastefully embroidered with a Black Widow logo. A custom center console, billet trim, power windows, powered seats, keyless entry, and a cool Vintage Air AC make this interior a deadly combo.

- Poised to Strike: You can’t drop this much time, effort, and gnarly amount of torque into a car without ensuring your suspension can kill at any moment’s notice. And that’s just what this thing can do with its Art Morrison Chassis lurking beneath the black paint. It has an independent front suspension to smooth the ride and a four-link out back to handle the grunt work. Coilover shocks absorb all the blows, while a rack and pinion responds with spider-like reflexes.
This is truly a kind build with its own soul and personality. Congratulations to user REVHEADS on putting together a great listing and having a standout sale! It was a competitive auction, and we’re excited for the winner to take home this iconic and menacing machine. Until next time, happy hot rodding.
